Potthast Studios Announces Professional Photography Certification
Posted by: Mike in Just Blogging on March 9th, 2010
Our studio is now recognized by the Professional Photographers of America as being professionally certified. I recently received Certified Professional Photographer status from the Professional Photographers of America. Like certification for other professionals, this means that our studios creative work and technical knowledge are considered to be above industry standards. As a Certified photographer, I also participate in continuing education programs. This means that I’m constantly learning new techniques and renewing my creativity, which directly benefits my clients in the end product.

Our Christmas Window Display
Posted by: Mike in Recent Shoots on November 23rd, 2009
We unveiled our Christmas window display today. We have worked really hard on our display this year, starting almost two months ago. The idea was to build a life-sized nativity display from portraits we took here at the studio including priest from our church, animals, teachers and friends. Thanks so much to Lisa Ann Kliene, in pulling this all together.. It was her vision and sooo much time and work that helped make it happen.. Shannon, Amy and Robin worked mamy, many hours in making this happen as well. Be sure to stop by to see the display. It is best at around 6pm when the lights are on and sparkling. Merry Christmas everyone.

Shoot with the Governor
Posted by: Mike in Recent Shoots on November 23rd, 2009
Had an opportunity to shoot with Florida Governor Charlie Crist yesterday. It was a good shoot and he really took his time to make sure the shots worked out. He even took time out to shoot one with me.

America’s New landscape
Posted by: Seola in Just Blogging on September 18th, 2009

Recently, we have been seeing much more land like this. Especially here in Florida. The booming growth of land development projects suddenly coming to a stand still. This image was taken on my way to work. Within the five miles it takes to get to work, I pass probably 3 – 4 pastures of light posts and signs of life, but still remain empty and inhabited. I believe this image simply states the times we are now experiencing.

For all you Chocolate Lovers
Posted by: Seola in Just Blogging on July 24th, 2009
Shot a wedding recently this summer, it was low key, at someone’s beautiful home on one of the many lakes here in Winter Haven. The children of the residents are in Culinary school and had prepared many delicious Gourmet tasty trays of food. This display was my favorite though, they had fresh pineapple, strawberries, and marshmallows. Sad to say though, that the only chocolate dipped delights I got to enjoy was the ones I used for this photo. I had to get back to work, capture the evenings festivities.

The Dance
Posted by: Seola in Just Blogging on July 2nd, 2009
Recently visited New York City and of course spent a day walking through the park. It was a great day, sunny and warm but not too hot. We managed to see many exciting events as we passed through. It turns out it was Japan Day in the Center of the Park, and on the Northern End we found a group of individuals doing a ritualistic dance. I will have to update this post with an image from the Japan Day, but here I have made a composite of three separate pictures from the same group. They were beating drums and burning some substance, allowing smoke to escape at certain moments. It was truly a great day when you can visit one park and experience many different cultures.

Jet Dragster Shoot for Embry Riddle A.U.
Posted by: Mike in Recent Shoots on May 27th, 2009
Had an interesting assignment for with Elaine Larsen and Embry Riddle A.U. Elaine drives a “Jet Dragster” meaning they basically strap a jet engine to the back of a car. She commonly hits 330 mphs when she races. Pretty crazy. Elaine is awesome and photographs beautifully. The shoot had to be handled very technically with several different lights sources and gels. Here are some snaps Seola took during he shoot but will post some shots of the finals when they are approved. They turned out pretty cool.
