Helped set up some lights today for Robin. She did a great job, excited to see what she came up with!

Minimalist Art

Recently I had a shoot, where the idea was to take this Black and White dress I had hanging in my closet and play with the idea of shooting on black to limit what the film registers. So I used the straight lines of the dress and the curve of the body. Simple, yet slightly odd results.

Criterium Bike Race

Winter Haven hosted its first Criterium Bike Race Sunday.  The course was weaved in and around downtown streets.  I don’t know much about bike racing but this was really cool how fast these guys were moving.  I hope we can make it an annual event.

Florida Gators : Spring Game

50,000+ for the spring game ?? From the size of the crowd it almost looks like a real game.

Publix in Downtown Winter Haven

May seem quite odd to see a large Publix truck parked parallel to this white wall? This was in the beginning stages of the ‘Publix Commercial’ shoot taking place right across from the Studio. I am sure almost everyone has seen a Publix Ad, they do a great job. As I was leaving work yesterday the crew for the shoot kept growing, actors and actresses holding cash in their hands, Video crew with a large film camera on tracks. It will be interesting to see the new commercial turns out and how they used the huge “outdoor studio” across the street?Publix Truck

My cousins Nathan and Justin in South Carolina are working on remodeling my aunts house.  They got a little side tracked one day.

Piece of Potthast History

After years of searching we finally found a picture of the studio. It originally was a Levys department store. I love to look at past photographs and to see where we came from. Bob Gernert at the Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce found this photo..

iPhoto Feature

I upgraded to iLife 09 for the family photos and such over the weekend. One really neat feature uses the iPhones GPS to geocache the location where the photo was taken, you can then take a quick look at the map to see where you have been.

Lubitel 166

Found this old camera in the antique shop up the road from the studio. I had a friend in town who holds on to and uses old vintage cameras. There is something exciting about those little plastic cameras. We checked the shutter, works perfectly no flaws so far, and purchased the camera with a mission to shoot with it. I just happen to be carrying around some 120 BW film that I purchased prior. Loaded up the film, reels fed the film in to a sure fit. It was fun to go out there and literally paint with light.

Foil Box

This was too cool not to put on our blog. My mom emailed it me. I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil Box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can’t count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up..
