The Dance
Posted by Seola in Just Blogging on July 2, 2009
Recently visited New York City and of course spent a day walking through the park. It was a great day, sunny and warm but not too hot. We managed to see many exciting events as we passed through. It turns out it was Japan Day in the Center of the Park, and on the Northern End we found a group of individuals doing a ritualistic dance. I will have to update this post with an image from the Japan Day, but here I have made a composite of three separate pictures from the same group. They were beating drums and burning some substance, allowing smoke to escape at certain moments. It was truly a great day when you can visit one park and experience many different cultures.

Jet Dragster Shoot for Embry Riddle A.U.
Posted by Mike in Recent Shoots on May 27, 2009
Had an interesting assignment for with Elaine Larsen and Embry Riddle A.U. Elaine drives a “Jet Dragster” meaning they basically strap a jet engine to the back of a car. She commonly hits 330 mphs when she races. Pretty crazy. Elaine is awesome and photographs beautifully. The shoot had to be handled very technically with several different lights sources and gels. Here are some snaps Seola took during he shoot but will post some shots of the finals when they are approved. They turned out pretty cool.

Shuttle Atlantis

Found this pic online of Shuttle Atlantis with the sun in the background. An amateur astronomer claimed to take the picture from earth through a telescope. But then I started thinking this would be a pretty easy photoshop trick too.. What do you think? Real or Photoshop?
Finally got some film back!
Posted by Seola in Just Blogging on May 6, 2009
The beginning of 2009, I decided to make the investment of buying a newer and better film camera. Everyone always asks why there is still use in these old out of date cameras? To me, its the feeling of knowing that I have captured something, on film and having that hard copy to hold on to. Due to the inconvenience of shooting with film, it has taken me a while to get these scanned. I shot these with my new camera throughout downtown Atlanta. The whole weekend I was there, it was impossible to see the whole skyline as you can see. So we made the best of it, and when we had a good two hour slot when it wasn’t raining, we hiked throughout the city and captured the evening.
Cake Pops

This past weekend both Ellie (6) and Isabelle (5) celebrated their birthdays and we made these little treats to send to school for the parties. They were a big hit!
This was my first shoot and I had to fight off Mike so he couldn’t eat his cake pop.

Minimalist Art

Recently I had a shoot, where the idea was to take this Black and White dress I had hanging in my closet and play with the idea of shooting on black to limit what the film registers. So I used the straight lines of the dress and the curve of the body. Simple, yet slightly odd results.

Posted by Mike in Just Blogging on April 20, 2009
Winter Haven hosted its first Criterium Bike Race Sunday. The course was weaved in and around downtown streets. I don’t know much about bike racing but this was really cool how fast these guys were moving. I hope we can make it an annual event.

50,000+ for the spring game ?? From the size of the crowd it almost looks like a real game.

Publix in Downtown Winter Haven
Posted by Seola in Just Blogging on March 13, 2009
May seem quite odd to see a large Publix truck parked parallel to this white wall? This was in the beginning stages of the ‘Publix Commercial’ shoot taking place right across from the Studio. I am sure almost everyone has seen a Publix Ad, they do a great job. As I was leaving work yesterday the crew for the shoot kept growing, actors and actresses holding cash in their hands, Video crew with a large film camera on tracks. It will be interesting to see the new commercial turns out and how they used the huge “outdoor studio” across the street?
